Bingo History

Although many people believe that bingo is a recent invention and presume it exists no more than a hundred years, bingo is actually one of the oldest gambling games in the world. Bingo is derived from the first lottery game ever, the Italian national lottery, which was constituted in the 15th century. Long before the existence of casino games and online casinos bingo was already on of the most favorite gambling games in the world.

From Italy bingo has moved to ancient France, where it has developed even further. The results of the French lottery were marked on a square card divided into little boxes. Each bingo card had a unique combination of numbers and contained several empty squares that needed to filled. This game already resembled the bingo we know today.

From France bingo moved to Germany, spreading to more people, and sprouting the first bingo halls, where it evolved to a version that is very similar to the bingo we know and love. Actually, bingo has arrived to America from Germany, under the name of Beano. Beano was the name of the German version of bingo because then they used beans to mark the numbers on the card.
